5 color plates by Harrison Fisher and b/w illustrations. Each page has an art nouveau decoration by Margaret and Helen Maitland Armstrong on the lower quarter of the page. Red cloth, gilt spine titles, spine and front panel with art nouveau decorations and bulldog head with angel wings stamped in black, white and tan. Top page edges gilt. Illustrated endpages. Gift inscription dated 1904 on second blank page. Some rubbing off of the white color on cover and spine design, some rubs to spine ends, light cover soiling. Overall a tight good copy. Turn of the century romance about a city lawyer who comes to the country, is mistaken for a horse thief, and has a bulldog set out to guard him. Frontis and one other color plate is of the bulldog. ; Small 8vo 7½" - 8" tall; 137 pages
